About the job Accounts Officer
Purpose of the Role:
The Accounts Officer is responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and supporting the overall financial operations of the company. This role is vital in ensuring the smooth functioning of financial processes, including debtors and creditors control, bank reconciliation, and the preparation of management accounts and reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Debtors Control: Manage accounts receivable, ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts.
- Creditors Control: Oversee accounts payable, ensuring accurate and timely payments to creditors.
- Bank Reconciliation: Conduct regular bank reconciliations, accurately recording transactions and resolving discrepancies.
- ERP Transactions: Process and maintain financial transactions within the ERP system, ensuring accuracy and up-to-date records.
- ERP Maintenance: Regularly update and reconcile ERP system data to ensure it reflects accurate financial information.
- Statutory Returns: Prepare and file VAT, CSG, TDS, CTAX, and other statutory returns in compliance with tax regulations.
- Monthly Accounts: Prepare monthly management accounts and provide detailed financial analysis.
- Management Reports: Generate management and performance reports, offering insights and recommendations based on financial data.
- Audit Support: Assist in both external and internal audit exercises by providing necessary documentation and information.
- Financial Statements: Support the preparation of financial statements and audit schedules.
- Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned by the Chief Accountant.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Language Proficiency: Fluent in English and French (both written and spoken).
- Technical Skills: Experience with Microsoft NAV / Business Central is an advantage.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Communication: Effective communication skills for reporting and collaboration.
Location:
- Baie du Tombeau.
Working Hours:
- Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Saturday: Must be available, if necessary.
Transportation:
- Pick-up points: Port Louis, Pailles, Terre Rouge.
