Position: Accountant

Pay Rate: up to $45.00/hour DOE

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST

Location: Remote

Duration: 3 months to begin

Job Overview:

Mothership's client, a leading pharmaceutical company, is seeking a skilled Accountant for a short-term, remote position. This role involves performing moderate to highly complex accounting tasks, supporting the monthly general ledger close process, and analyzing financial data. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), strong communication skills, and experience with financial software applications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations with moderate to high complexity.
• Review general ledger details and expense run rates to identify adjustments and reclassifications.
• Apply U.S. GAAP knowledge and company policies to address moderate to complex accounting issues.
• Oversee and coordinate assigned accounting tasks and processes.
• Participate in the monthly general ledger close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting schedules.
• Analyze financial data to interpret past performance and project future financial outcomes.
• Collaborate with internal and external auditors by providing requested documentation.
• Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley controls.
• Identify and implement process improvements.
• Document and monitor system controls, procedures, and forms.
• Communicate effectively with other departments to ensure accurate and timely transaction recording.
• Provide support for ad hoc tasks within General Ledger, Indirect Tax, North America Compensation, and Lease Accounting Teams.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting (strongly preferred) or a related field.
• CPA designation preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of related accounting experience.
• Proficiency in Excel (required).
• Experience with financial accounting software applications such as SAP, BPC, Analytics for Office (AFO), and Blackline (a plus).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
