Our client, one of Asia’s largest manufacturers of apparel, sportswear, performance wear, and swimwear.
Position: Garment Technologist (2 Openings)
Locations: Biyagama & Katunayake
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaise with the Customer and Merchandiser in the event measurement adjustments are needed to ensure the feasibility of the sample construction.
- Prepare base patterns for the designated category, while coordinating with CAD (Computer-aided design) to obtain relevant markers, and forwarding the main material and trim consumption to the merchandising team for customer approval, ensuring timely fabric orders.
- Prepare patterns and markers for R&D (Research & Development) samples and evaluate them with the team leader to ensure that the proto sample is accurate prior to the customer sample.
- Develop patterns and markers for proto samples by obtaining the required fabric and accessories in consultation with the merchandising department.
- Make required adjustments to patterns based on customer comments (all proto stages) and prepare new samples incorporating the adjustments accordingly (Size-Set, Merchandising Samples, Pre-Production).
- Prepare Virtual Samples depending on customer requirements, while analyzing the fit virtually (spec changes, artwork changes, other editing) in an accurate and timely manner.
- Timely adherence to the process, conducting Development Meetings, Cut Kits, Hacking Meetings, Style Briefing, SS PP, SS Post Review, Hacking Freezing, and PP Meetings.
- Finalize patterns for bulk production, preparing the ordering requisition sheet by liaising with CAD, and releasing the consumption for the buy. Ensure that the specifications and schematics are completed in an orderly manner prior to the buy.
- Conduct development meetings to decide on samples to be developed and finalize trims to be used while arriving at technical/construction decisions based on the sample sketches, in consultation with the Technical Manager.
- Dispatch placement boards in a timely manner to the relevant printer to facilitate on-time production.
- Contribute to the implementation and sustenance of Lean initiatives, while driving Lean objectives to achieve set KPIs and ensuring individual KPIs are met.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or MBA in Textile Engineering, NDT, or a related field.
- Certificate in Pattern Making or relevant qualifications.
- 3-4 years of practical experience in pattern making in the apparel industry.
- Strong knowledge and experience in fabrication yarn and operations.
- Excellent communication and team management skills.
