About the Role
A well-regarded boutique law firm is seeking a Mid-Level Real Estate Associate as it expands its real estate practice into New York.
The role involves drafting, reviewing, and revising real estate transactional agreements, managing and coordinating with partners and paralegals, and handling multiple deadlines and tasks for various clients.
This is a ground-floor opportunity within the firm's New York expansion. The firm is entering the New York market for the first time and plans to eventually establish an office there. The attorney joining this practice will have the opportunity to lead deals and help build the firm's presence in the market.
The ideal candidate will bring experience from a sophisticated, national real estate transactional practice and will be comfortable working with lean teams, partners, and clients directly.
Responsibilities
Draft, review, and revise real estate transactional agreements, including purchase and sale agreements and loan documentation.
Manage and coordinate with partners and paralegals on deals to ensure deadlines are met.
Manage deals from start to finish while coordinating with partners, paralegals, and clients.
Manage multiple concurrent deal timelines, deadlines, and tasks for various clients.
Work directly with clients throughout the transaction process.
Take an active role in leading transactions and supporting the firm's growing New York market presence.
Qualifications
4–7 years of experience in real estate transactional law.
J.D. from an accredited law school.
Active New York bar membership.
Real estate transaction experience including purchase and sale agreements, loan documentation, and JV/capital markets agreements.
Experience drafting and negotiating PSAs and financing documentation.
Experience with JV operating agreements, preferred equity, and syndication documentation.
Experience managing deals from start to finish.
Strong client-facing communication skills and comfort with frequent direct client interaction.
Ability to manage multiple concurrent deal timelines and deadlines.
Able to work in New York on a hybrid basis.
Comfortable with an 1,800-hour billable requirement.
Preferred Background
Ideal candidates will have experience within a sophisticated, national real estate transactional practice.
Experience at a boutique or mid-size firm with meaningful direct client contact is valued, as is a BigLaw real estate transactional practice background.
The strongest candidates will bring substantive transactional real estate experience rather than a purely litigation or non-transactional real estate background and will be comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $225,000–$275,000.
The firm is open to visa transfers, including OPT and H-1B transfers.
