Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee accounting operations, support financial accuracy, and provide a stronger accounting perspective across the business.
This role is responsible for managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll oversight, reconciliations, month-end activities, and accounting process improvements. The position requires someone capable of identifying issues proactively, reviewing accounting workflows critically, and helping leadership maintain accurate financial information and controls.
The ideal candidate combines strong accounting fundamentals with practical business judgment and can serve as a trusted accounting resource for the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations Oversight
Oversee AP, AR, payroll, and bookkeeping workflows
Review accounting transactions for accuracy and completeness
Identify accounting issues, discrepancies, and process gaps proactively
Ensure accounting records are maintained according to best practices
Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
Review vendor invoices, customer invoices, and payment activity
Monitor receivable balances and collections efforts
Assist with resolving complex billing or payment issues
Improve AP and AR workflows where appropriate
Payroll & Subcontractor Administration
Review payroll information and payment documentation
Ensure payroll processes are accurate and consistent
Support subcontractor payment tracking and reporting
Maintain payroll-related controls and documentation
Reconciliations & Month-End Support
Perform and review bank, credit card, and account reconciliations
Support month-end close activities
Review financial records for unusual activity or inconsistencies
Maintain supporting schedules and accounting documentation
Process Improvement & Financial Controls
Evaluate accounting workflows and identify opportunities for improvement
Help strengthen accounting procedures and documentation
Assist leadership in maintaining financial accuracy and operational visibility
Recommend process improvements to reduce errors and increase efficiency
Reporting Support
Assist with preparation of financial reports and schedules
Support budgeting, forecasting, or management reporting when needed
Provide insights into accounting trends, issues, and operational concerns
Qualifications
Required
5+ years of accounting experience
Strong AP, AR, payroll, and bookkeeping experience
Experience performing account reconciliations and month-end activities
Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, or cash flow management
Experience managing accounting operations in small or mid-sized businesses
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls
Experience reviewing accounting processes and identifying discrepancies
Experience with QuickBooks, Sage, or similar accounting systems
Strong Excel and financial analysis skills
Ability to operate independently and exercise sound judgment
Strong written and verbal English communication skills
Preferred
Familiarity with US GAAP
Experience supporting construction, trades, or service-based businesses
Experience with Sage 300 CRE
Experience supporting external audits
