Monocle has an opportunity for a recent graduate with a Bachelors degree in Accounting, to join our internal finance team as a Finance Intern. This is a permanent role and will report to the finance leads. It is a great opportunity for a recent graduate wanting to start their career in finance working alongside highly experienced professionals. As a Finance Intern your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Manage the full payment process cycle between Monocle and its suppliers in accordance with Monocles internal Payment Framework.
  • Reconciling daily bank reconciliations, posting cash book entries, receipts and journals for the group.
  • Maintaining the petty cash fund and reconciling the corporate cards.
  • Maintaining the fixed asset registers of the Group on a monthly basis and assist with conducting interim internal audits on the companys fixed assets.
  • Tracking expenses and payments to approved budgets and providing necessary feedback to relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist in maintaining and tracking the BBBEE process through BEE Smart software on a monthly basis.
  • Assist the team with the preparation of the monthly expense claims within the Group that will be paid through payroll on a monthly basis.
  • Preparing the monthly VAT computations and readying the computation for review and filing.
  • Assisting with research, filing, data entry, recording and maintaining accurate and complete financial records.
  • Taking on additional tasks or projects to learn more about accounting and office operations.
  • Implementing internal control systems as the group grows and evolves.
  • Ad-hoc financial queries and information requests.

Additional responsibilities include, but is not limited to the following:

  • Drive consistency, accuracy and timely reporting across the group in a high paced environment.
  • Engagement and communication with Executives at all levels.
  • Well-organized and energetic and can work within a team effectively.

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Be a recent graduate with a Bachelors degree in Accounting (essential).
  • Have strong (Intermediate) Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Analytical, attention to detail, performance driven with a passion to succeed and grow.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Working towards a CIMA/ACCA or equivalent post degree qualification (not essential).
