BURSARY APPLICATION FOR GRADUATE AND POST GRADUATE STUDIES

The Monocle Foundation Trust has been formed to provide bursaries to South African students studying towards a degree or postgraduate degree. The Trust specifically targets previously disadvantaged black female students currently enrolled (from second year or above) in fields such as, but not limited to, Finance, Mathematics, Accounting, Economics, Computer Science and Medicine. The ideal candidate will not have an alternative bursary and will use the funding towards their 2025 studies.

We invite students that fit the above criteria to submit their applications to become a beneficiary of The Monocle Foundation Trust. The application must include ALL of the following supporting documents to qualify for consideration:

1. A letter addressed to the Trustees of The Monocle Foundation Trust including:

  • Information and background of the applicant
  • Field of study
  • Career ambitions
  • Motivation for bursary

2. Latest CV
3. Certified copy of South African ID
4. Copy of academic record to date stamped by the University
5. Copy of graduate degree (for graduates)
6. Copy of Grade 12 academic certificate
7. Breakdown of 2025 funds required, including tuition fees, study support and books, accommodation, and
subsistence allowance.

Candidates will be shortlisted by the Trustees and contacted by November 2024, after which the successful applicants will be chosen before mid-December 2024. All applicants will receive feedback on the outcome of their application.
The beneficiaries are under no obligation to pay back or work back the funds to the Trust. Beneficiaries will be
obligated to provide regular updates to the Trust regarding their studies and progression and provide their final
academic results to the Trust. The Trustees however would appreciate feedback on where the beneficiaries will be starting their careers.
