About the job CNC Lathe Machinist Level III/IV Lead
We are currently hiring for a CNC Lathe Machinist Level III or Level IV with a leading Manufacturing company based in Tinley Park IL.
This is a Temp to Hire role transitioning into a Permanent role in 90-180Days
Responsible for simple to complex set-ups and operation of CNC
equipment, understands concepts and able to troubleshoot the program, tooling maintenance,
training of employees and ensuring that all required processes are completed to produce parts that
meet quality and ISO standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Performs simple to complex set-ups and operation of CNC machines, applying knowledge of
manufacturing and procedures, mathematics, running multiple machines at one time.
Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of part quality and product
efficiency.
Understanding of materials and ability to use and adjust speeds, feeds, and depth of cut.
Review and understand drawings, dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece,
sequence of operations, and set up requirements.
Aligns and secures holding fixtures (such as jaws, and vices), load/unload cutting tools,
attachments, accessories, and materials on machines.
Observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and
adjusts as required.
Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications, using precision measuring
instruments such as micrometers, calipers, comparator, height gages, and indicators.
Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining
or assembly problems.
Comply with company requirements in completing essential documentation as required.
Train, assist, and support employees in producing quality parts and in completing all process
requirements.
Assure all policies and procedures are followed and safety precautions are taken to reduce
the risk of injury.
Maintain a clean work area and assure safe operation of all equipment.
Must be available on reasonable notice for unscheduled overtime to meet production
schedules.
Perform and document Operator Preventive Maintenance operations, as needed.
Leads will also perform the following duties:
Follow the production schedule ensuring team members know what machines need to run
during their shift.
Keep all machines on their team running well including assisting team members if they are
having problems; assist in set-up as needed; if any machine goes down, get it running as
soon as possible.
OR Level IV
: Responsible for the programming, set-up and operation of CNC
equipment and editing of programs ensuring that all required processes are completed to produce
parts that meet quality and ISO standards. May serve as a liaison between other departments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Set-up and operate CNC machines according to specifications, applying knowledge of
machining methods. Can do multitasking with multiple machines at one time.
Review and understand drawings and job order for product specifications, such as
dimensions and tolerances, setup instructions.
Understanding of materials and ability to use and adjust feeds, speeds and depth of cut.
Observes operation of machine and verifies conformance of machined work piece to
specifications, using measuring instruments, such as gages, calipers, and micrometers.
Troubleshoot problems associated with equipment, tooling, and processes.
Edit CNC programs as required to optimize processes based on established department
procedures for process improvement.
May create and write advanced CNC programs.
Create & recommend tooling and fixturing solutions.
Maintain a clean work area and assure safe operation of all equipment.
Create, edit, and complete essential documentation as required.
Complete, train, assist, and support employees in producing quality parts and in completing
all process requirements and documentation.
Assure all polices and procedures are followed, and safety precautions are taken to reduce
the risk of injury.
Assist engineering & other production areas as needed.
Must be available for unscheduled overtime to meet production schedules.
