About the job General Manager Operations
The General Manager will LEAD the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the overall company operation. The General Manager provides ongoing support and expertise to all staff and assists key people in establishing goals, objectives, policies and procedures. This is done to ensure the continued financial growth and success of the company
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Management
· Design, develop, implement and enforce effective company policies including, but not limited to the following:
o Standard Operating Procedures
o General Fiscal Policies
o Safety Policies
o Environmental Policies
· The General Manager ensures the continued financial growth of the Company by regular monitoring of financial information provided by the President and executive group.
· The General Manager is responsible for cost/ expense control of the business and monitoring of such through verbal/ written reports, shared with the President and Executive Group.
· The General Manager provides assistance to the Sales & Marketing function of the Company in the formation, development and implementation of strategies.
· The General Manager ensures that the Company performs according to established regulatory and quality control standards. Appoints and monitors the performance of the Management representative for Quality Control, Environmental compliance, OSHA compliance, Federal, State and local regulations conformity.
· The General Manager has responsibility for the overall operation of the Company by ensuring that all the employees meet or exceed established guidelines set for standard performance.
Team Leadership:
· Manage, train and motivate the Management Team as well as Key Associates
o Provide guidance and direction to all direct reports, including managers and key associates.
o Establish and set limits for the activities of managers and key associates so that the organization continues to progress and achieve desired goals set forth by the president and Executive Group.
o Evaluate performance and provide coaching or corrective actions as needed.
o Participate in periodic and annual performance reviews of associates.
o Coordinate with HR regarding employee performance and discipline.
o Participate in hiring and firing of associates.
· Reinforce the fundamentals: Be on schedule, Be reliable, Be clean, Be safe and Be a team member.
· Foster a culture of safety, quality and continuous improvement of the Company and staff.
Collaboration:
· Guide the Management Team and key associates across critical functional areas:
o Ensure finished products consistently meet established quality standards and production targets through cross-functional collaboration.
o Support the implementation and maintenance of procedures that drive continuous improvement
o Work with the Sales Team to establish clear sales objectives and monitor ongoing performance against targets.
o Oversee effective analysis and evaluation of both new and existing products.
o Partner with the Maintenance Team to ensure preventive maintenance (PM), repairs, and continuous improvement initiatives are executed to meet facility and equipment objectives.
Budget Management:
· Manage purchased materials essential to Company operations (per company policy/ procedures).
· Manage proper material, chemical and mechanical inventories essential to Company operations.
· Maintain relationships with key suppliers and make change recommendations.
· Recommend cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or safety.
Reporting and Analysis:
· Regularly prepare and present Key Performance Indicators of the Company, highlighting key metrics that are developed in conjunction with the President and executive group.
o Present to Management Team
o Present to Team Leaders and production staff
o Investigate and improve key indicators negatively affecting the Company.
· Maintain awareness of business-related trends, advances and industry improvements that could affect the Company.
· Presentation and continual evaluation of costs/ expenses of the business operation.
· Negotiate, set, accept or change the pricing structure for services provided by the Company, in consultation with the President and executive group.
· Contribute to and review monthly financial statements with the President and executive group.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
General Manager will collaborate with and LEAD the management team to ensure company goals and strategies are aligned. The General Manager must maintain good presentation, attitude and constructive working relationships with individuals inside and outside the Company. This position must LEAD.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience:
· Bachelor's degree in fields related to Engineering, Business or Management.
· Previous management experience in an executive role.
· Previous management experience in manufacturing related industry.
· Working knowledge and experience identifying financial, operational and personnel problem areas.
· Working knowledge and experience to show the ability to solve problems and execute policies and procedures through a management team.
Skills/Knowledge:
· Computer skills – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail
· Good leadership skills with ability to communicate clearly and effectively
· Basic statistical and analytical business skills
· Understanding of ISO and/ or other relevant industrial quality standards.
Physical Demands
· While performing the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, walk and stand. Secondarily, the employee is required to sit, carry, kneel, reach, climb and handle. This job also requires clear vision at 20 inches or less (can be correctable with lenses) and the ability to adjust eyes to bring an object into focus. Environment and Scheduling
· Work is performed during normal business hours. 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday - Friday
· Work is performed in an administrative office and manufacturing plant setting.
· Must be flexible and available to work additional hours when necessary.
