Job Summary

Responsible for the management and coordination of the2nd Shift Welding and Fabricationdepartment (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM). This role ensures the manufacturing of stainless-steel food packaging equipment is consistent with the company's goals to improve facility performance, throughput, and product standards. The supervisor provides leadership to a team of TIG welders working primarily with16ga up to 1 303 and 304 stainless steels.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Direct Manufacturing Operations:Plan, organize, and direct 2nd shift welding and maintenance operations which ensure the most effective return on assets.
  1. Food-Grade Quality:Ensure all assemblies meet strict tolerances forfood-grade welding and grinding. Assure attainment of production schedules while ensuring product standards exceed our customers expectations.
  1. Cost & Manpower Management:Initiate plans and processes which minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, and capital.
  1. Problem Solving:Establish group and individual accountabilities throughout assigned departments for problem solving and cost reduction. Encourage use of new techniques and focus on fact-based problem solving.


  1. Technical Supervision:Oversee the assembly of components to strict tolerances using TIG welding on303 and 304 stainless. Maintain cosmetics and finish requirements. Assist team members as needed to meet daily production goals.
  1. Employee Relations:Assure that employees are fairly treated, all policies are effectively administered, and that employee grievances are addressed in a timely fashion.
  1. Safety & Housekeeping:Continually improve safety record by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes. Maintain and improve housekeeping in all welding areas.
  1. Strategic Support:Implement manufacturing strategies and action plans to ensure that the facility supports CV-TEKs strategic initiatives.
  1. Professional Development:Maintain individual skills keeping up to date with latest production and production management concepts.

Requirements

  • Experience:8+ years of experience in welding and manufacturing fabrication, with a minimum of 4 years of supervisory experience.
  • Technical Skills:Expert-level TIG welding ability; proficiency in reading and understanding complex mechanical blueprints.
  • Leadership:Strong leadership skills, independent thinking, strong organizational and planning abilities. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Physical:High energy level required; able to stand for long periods of time and safely lift up to50 poundsat varying frequencies.
  • Education:High School diploma or GED. Certificate in welding from accredited school preferred but not required.
  • Equipment:Welding hood and work boots required.
