BIM Manager
About the job BIM Manager
Rockville, MD based structural design engineering firm is currently looking for a BIM Manager to assist with the implementation and ongoing maintenance of Revit in the Studio. You will partner with the company's structural engineers to ensure the execution and implementation of projects. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining BIM standards, templates, and manuals. As a leader within the Drafting department, you will provide effective coaching and mentorship to other drafting staff members. Job Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain BIM standards and templates
- Manage internal drafting and BIM team
- Creating or adjusting templates, families, schedules etc.
- Regularly update and maintain BIM related manuals
- Support with day-to-day BIM inquires and ensuring adherence to procedures
- Actively work on projects - modelling and detailing.
- Assist in the management of BIM for multistoried building Projects.
- Liaise with in-house design engineers and clients (Architects) in order to understand the design flow process and efficiently apply BIM in design
- Coordinating the delivery of BIM related design and construction document information with Architects and MEP Engineers
- Manage site based BIM tools including BIM360
- Provide quality control for completeness and adherence to company standards
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and coaching to employees
- Organize and lead internal company-wide BIM meetings and provide progress updates to the team.
- Liaise with software vendor when required.
- Conduct routine audits of project files for corruption detection and file size management
- Conduct review of template databases to correct and update for redundancy and proper implementation
- Attend strategic meetings with external clients, to ensure a BIM execution plan is agreed to and followed and provide feedback when needed
- Assist with CAD output management, layering and file structuring for basic CAD Management duties.
- Coordinate needed hardware upgrades with IT.
- Troubleshoot problems
Qualification Requirements:
- Must have 5+ years of experience as an in-house BIM Specialist
- Must have previous experience working and implementing BIM in an engineering firm
- Proficient with Revit
- Proficient in AutoCAD
- Understanding the basics of construction drawings for building structures
- Leadership and mentoring skills and the ability to effectively work with colleagues in a small business setting.
- Good verbal and written communication skills with organizational capabilities
- Complex and proactive problem solving
- Proven ability to take initiative, manage competing initiatives, and meet deadlines
- Able to work effectively both independently as well as part of a team
- Able to develop working relationships both internally and externally
