Responsibilities:

1. Design, develop, and implement automated solutions and systems for various processes in the life science industry, including manufacturing, quality control, and research and development.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify automation requirements, develop specifications, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
3. Program, configure, and integrate automation equipment and control systems, such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), and Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
4. Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for automation projects, identifying potential risks and proposing mitigation strategies.
5. Develop and execute validation protocols, ensuring that automated systems meet regulatory requirements and performance expectations.
6. Troubleshoot automation issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to maintain system reliability and performance.
7. Provide technical support and training to end-users, ensuring proper operation and maintenance of automated systems.
8. Stay updated with emerging automation technologies and industry trends, and recommend process improvements and technological advancements.
9. Collaborate with external vendors and contractors to procure automation equipment and services, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, preferably in Automation, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
2. Proven experience in automation engineering, preferably in the life science industry or a regulated manufacturing environment.
3. Strong knowledge of automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and DCS.
4. Proficiency in programming languages and software tools used in automation, such as ladder logic, structured text, and control system software.
5. Familiarity with industry regulations and standards, such as FDA 21 CFR Part 11 and GAMP 5.
6. Experience with process control and optimization, including batch processing and continuous manufacturing.
7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex automation issues.
8. Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
9. Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
