Location: Nozawa Onsen (Hybrid at start, and eventually relocate to Nozawa)
Reports To: MDMC CEO and MDMC Managing Director

MDMC operates as Stay Nozawa and the Nozawa Onsen Distillery owns and manages several accommodation venues, restaurants, bars, retail outlets, and an alcohol production facility in Nozawa Onsen.

Position Summary

Were seeking a results-driven (Senior) Marketing Manager who is a creative thinker, able to imagine and execute big ideas on time and within budget. In collaboration with senior management, you will develop and implement world-class marketing campaigns to grow brand value and drive customer acquisition.

This strategic, hands-on role involves leading charge, being responsible for creating and executing an innovative marketing strategy to enhance our companys online and offline presence. You'll collaborate with a dynamic team to execute ambitious marketing plans across various channels, including email, PR, social media, retail and wholesale. Experience in the alcohol, sales, and hospitality sectors is advantageous but not essential.

As Marketing Manager, you'll build and nurture relationships with our current customer base while identifying new opportunities to expand the Stay Nozawa and Nozawa Onsen Distillery brands. Your focus will be on both on-premise and off-premise venues, as well as driving growth through D2C e-commerce sales.

Key responsibilities include launching new products, managing industry events, and driving sales growth in both businesses. Your role will be instrumental in facilitating collaborations, orchestrating seasonal releases, and advancing our online presence. Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy to enhance the companys presence both online and offline, aligned with business goals and brand vision.
  • Brand Development: Elevate the Stay Nozawa and Nozawa Onsen Distillery brands by strengthening relationships with existing customers and identifying new market opportunities.
  • Marketing Execution: Lead and manage all marketing activities across various channels, including email, PR, website, display ads, social media, partnerships, retail, and wholesale.
  • Product Launches / Seasonal Releases: Oversee the introduction of new products, ensuring successful market entry and effective promotional strategies.
  • Event Management: Plan and execute industry events to boost brand visibility, engage with key stakeholders, and drive sales growth.
  • Collaborations: Facilitate strategic partnerships and collaborations to expand brand reach and create new opportunities for growth.
  • Online Presence: Enhance and grow the companys online presence through innovative digital marketing strategies and content management.
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor, analyze, and report on marketing campaign performance, adjusting strategies as needed to ensure targets and KPIs are met.
  • Cultural Awareness: Appreciation for and understanding of the Nozawa Onsen community and its values, with a commitment to sustainability and quality.


Experience / Qualifications

  • Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in Japanese and English, with the ability to engage with stakeholders, create compelling content, and represent the brand effectively.
  • Marketing Expertise: Demonstrated success in developing and executing comprehensive marketing strategies, with a strong track record in both digital and traditional marketing channels.
  • Leadership: Experience in leading and managing marketing teams, with the ability to inspire and drive performance while fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Event Coordination: Proven ability to plan and execute industry events, from concept through to successful delivery and post-event analysis.
  • Digital Marketing Proficiency: Expertise in digital marketing tools and platforms, including social media, email marketing, display advertising, and SEO/SEM.
  • Educational Background: Bachelors degree in Marketing, Business, Hospitality, or a related field; advanced qualifications (e.g., MBA) are a plus.
