Job Description

• Design and optimize database architectures to ensure high availability, performance, and security
• Develop and implement middleware solutions that facilitate seamless communication between applications and databases
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications
• Monitor and troubleshoot database and middleware performance issues, providing timely resolutions
• Conduct regular database backups, recovery, and maintenance activities to ensure data integrity and availability
• Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend improvements and innovations
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement
• Document system configurations, processes, and procedures to maintain clear and comprehensive records

Person Specification

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• Extensive experience with database management systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL) and middleware technologies (e.g., Apache Kafka, IBM MQ)
• Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts
• Proficiency in scripting languages and automation tools to streamline database and middleware operations
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders
• Relevant certifications in database management or middleware technologies
• Experience with cloud-based database solutions and microservices architecture
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
