Role Summary

Will be part of a talented team of Database Administrating engineers that demonstrate superb technical competencies, delivering mission critical Database infrastructure and ensuring the highest levels of database availability, performance and security. Qualified engineers will have a background in Database Administration.

As a Database Administrator you should be able to Identify and resolve database performance bottlenecks (e.g., slow queries, high resource consumption) by collaborating with developers and application architects. Will have to work with customers in understanding their requirements in providing solutions to cater them. Understanding of the priority of incidents / requests and resolving them with in the SLA is critical.

Job Description

  • Installing, Configuring, and troubleshooting Databases such as Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL, MongoDB, etc...
  • Implementation and troubleshooting of database backups
  • Database Backup restoration and recovery
  • Performing Database Migrations
  • Installation, configuration and troubleshooting of Database replications
  • Database Performance management and tuning
  • Database patching and bug fixing
  • Implementation and Management of Database security standards
  • Implementation and scheduling of database related maintenance jobs
  • Identify Database performance bottlenecks and work with other technical staff in developing solutions and work around and implementing the same
  • Perform DR Drills / Switchovers according to customer requirements
  • Support any other specially assigned Database tasks on need basis
  • Performing L2 support tasks within the timelines agreed with the support of correct use of systems/tools/resources etc. deployed at customer site
  • Escalate and consult with third-party application teams for issue resolution
  • Record & update trouble tickets/service requests with resolution information in a timely, accurate and clear manner. Provide root cause analysis on a need basis
  • Ensure calls / emails are responded as per SLAs defined
  • Escalate unresolved issues/requests to the appropriate teams
  • Adhere to the predefined guidelines of incident management /ticket resolution process
  • Ensure strict adherence to all other internal and customer governed processes and procedures/best practices for effective service delivery

Person Specification

  • Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Professional Certifications such as OCA, OCP, etc.. would be an added advantage
  • Knowledge in Database Architecture
  • Sound understanding of Various Databases technologies
  • Ability to work under tight schedules
  • Ability to troubleshoot database related performance issues in order to identify the root cause
  • 5 Years of experience in Database Administration industry
