Role Summary
The Senior Engineer Storage is responsible for managing and supporting enterprise-level storage systems, ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and security of the organization's storage infrastructure. This role requires advanced technical expertise in storage technologies, a deep understanding of storage architecture, and hands-on experience troubleshooting heterogenous storage-related issues. The Storage Administrator will also be responsible for the implementation of new storage solutions, capacity planning, performance tuning, and ensuring disaster recovery readiness.
Job Description
- Advanced expertise in enterprise storage systems such as SAN, NAS and object storage
- Hands-on experience with storage hardware from major vendors like NetApp, EMC, IBM, HPE, Dell, and others
- Configure and manage storage provisioning, LUNs, and zoning in SAN environments
- Strong knowledge of storage protocols (e.g., iSCSI, Fibre Channel, NFS, SMB, FCoE)
- Perform capacity planning to ensure storage scalability for current and future needs
- Experience with backup and recovery technologies, including backup software (e.g., Veeam, NetBackup, Commvault) and disaster recovery solutions
- Understanding of RAID levels, storage provisioning, and performance tuning techniques
- Develop and enforce storage policies, standards, and best practices.
- Experience with monitoring and diagnostic tools for storage systems and performance management
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
- Adhere to the predefined guidelines of incident management /ticket resolution process
- Ensure strict adherence to all other internal and customer governed processes and procedures/best practices for effective service delivery
- Support any other specially assigned tasks on need basis
- Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams (e.g., networking, server, and application teams) to resolve issues and implement solutions
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for all storage-related technologies and processes
- Provide training and guidance to junior storage administrators and support teams
- Knowledge of ITIL processes and best practices
Person Specification
- Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
- Knowledge in SAN & Storage concepts (Storage config, troubleshooting, Administrating, zoning etc.)
- Strong knowledge of storage technologies like SAN (Fiber Channel, iSCSI), NAS, RAID levels, and storage tiering
- Hands-on experience with storage platforms such as NetApp, Dell EMC, Hitachi, IBM, or Pure Storage
- Familiarity with storage protocols (NFS, CIFS/SMB, FC, iSCSI)
- Good understanding of the technology area depending on the area of specialty
- Ability to work under tight schedules
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues in order to identify the root cause
- 7 Years of experience in SAN & Storage Administration
