Role Summary
The Data Center Admin L2 Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of data center infrastructure and systems. The role requires intermediate-level expertise in managing servers, storage, networks, and ensuring high availability of critical IT services. The engineer also plays a key role in incident management and provides support for escalated technical issues.
Job Description
- Perform routine maintenance, including hardware checks, firmware upgrades, and system patching
- Monitor and manage physical and virtual data center environments, ensuring optimal performance
- Ensure proper functioning of power systems (UPS, PDU), cooling systems, and environmental controls
- Manage servers, storage, and network devices, including provisioning and decommissioning
- Monitor resource utilization and ensure efficient use of data center capacity
- Collaborate with Level 1 and Level 3 teams to resolve complex problems
- Respond to escalated issues and incidents related to data center operations
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues to ensure minimal downtime

- Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing for data center systems
- Support and monitor backup operations, ensuring data integrity and availability
- Maintain accurate documentation of data center assets, configurations, and processes
- Conduct regular audits of data center operations and report findings

- Mentor and guide Level 1 team members in troubleshooting and operational tasks
Person Specification
- Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Hands-on experience with server hardware (Dell, HP, Cisco UCS, etc.) and operating systems (Windows, Linux)
- Familiarity with storage systems (SAN, NAS) and networking (switches, routers, firewalls)
- Understanding monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, SolarWinds, Zabbix)
- Knowledge of virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM)
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- 5 Years of experience in DC Administration
