Role Summary

The Windows Admin L2 Engineer is responsible for managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Windows-based systems in an enterprise environment. This role requires intermediate expertise in Windows server administration, user management, and issue resolution. The engineer plays a key role in ensuring system uptime, performance, and security.

Job Description

  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows servers (2016, 2019, or later versions)
  • Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and other Windows core services
  • Provide Level 2 support for escalated issues related to Windows servers and desktops
  • Perform routine server updates, patches, and firmware upgrades
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network connectivity issues
  • Work closely with Level 1 and Level 3 teams to resolve complex technical problems
  • Monitor server performance using tools like SCOM, SolarWinds, or equivalent
  • Create and analyze performance reports for proactive system management
  • Identify and address performance bottlenecks to ensure optimal system operation
  • Ensure adherence to organizational backup and data retention policies
  • Manage backup solutions (e.g., Veeam, NetBackup, or similar) for Windows systems
  • Implement and manage security measures, including patch management and antivirus solutions
  • Ensure Windows systems comply with organizational security policies and industry standards
  • Conduct regular audits and address vulnerabilities in a timely manner
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior team members
  • Collaborate with network, storage, and application teams for seamless operations

Person Specification

  • Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server operating systems and services (AD, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy)
  • Understanding of storage technologies and network protocols relevant to Windows systems
  • Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V)
  • Knowledge of cloud environments (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) is a plus

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • 5 Years of experience in Windows Administration
