Role Summary

The Storage L2 Engineer is responsible for managing and maintaining enterprise storage systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and data integrity. The role requires intermediate-level expertise in storage technologies, troubleshooting complex issues, and collaborating with other IT teams to support business continuity.

Job Description

  • Configure, manage and monitor enterprise storage systems (SAN, NAS, DAS)
  • Provide Level 2 support for storage-related incidents and service requests
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues on storage platforms
  • Perform routine maintenance, firmware upgrades, and capacity planning
  • Manage and maintain storage replication and backup systems
  • Escalate critical issues to L3 support or vendor support as needed
  • Optimize storage utilization and ensure efficient allocation of resources
  • Monitor storage performance metrics and address bottlenecks
  • Support disaster recovery planning and testing for storage systems
  • Ensure data integrity and compliance with retention policies
  • Implement and manage backup and recovery solutions
  • Train and guide junior team members as needed
  • Work closely with servers, databases, and network teams to ensure seamless integration
  • Ensure storage systems comply with organizational security policies

Person Specification

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Knowledge of SAN switches (e.g., Brocade, Cisco MDS)
  • Proficiency in storage technologies such as NetApp, Dell EMC, HPE, and IBM
  • Basic understanding of virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V)
  • Experience with backup tools (e.g., Veritas NetBackup, Veeam, CommVault)
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • 5 Years of experience in SAN & Storage Administration
