Role Summary
The Storage L2 Engineer is responsible for managing and maintaining enterprise storage systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and data integrity. The role requires intermediate-level expertise in storage technologies, troubleshooting complex issues, and collaborating with other IT teams to support business continuity.
Job Description
- Configure, manage and monitor enterprise storage systems (SAN, NAS, DAS)
- Provide Level 2 support for storage-related incidents and service requests
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues on storage platforms
- Perform routine maintenance, firmware upgrades, and capacity planning
- Manage and maintain storage replication and backup systems
- Escalate critical issues to L3 support or vendor support as needed
- Optimize storage utilization and ensure efficient allocation of resources
- Monitor storage performance metrics and address bottlenecks
- Support disaster recovery planning and testing for storage systems
- Ensure data integrity and compliance with retention policies
- Implement and manage backup and recovery solutions
- Train and guide junior team members as needed
- Work closely with servers, databases, and network teams to ensure seamless integration
- Ensure storage systems comply with organizational security policies
Person Specification
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Knowledge of SAN switches (e.g., Brocade, Cisco MDS)
- Proficiency in storage technologies such as NetApp, Dell EMC, HPE, and IBM
- Basic understanding of virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V)
- Experience with backup tools (e.g., Veritas NetBackup, Veeam, CommVault)
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- 5 Years of experience in SAN & Storage Administration
