About the role

Were looking for a sharp, motivated AI/ML Engineer to join an existing team supporting an EdTech startup. This is a high-impact opportunity to work on a production-grade AI chatbot built on GCP and LlamaIndex, with a robust Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) backend powering both web and mobile applications.

The ideal candidate is hungry to learn, strong at taking direction, and has excellent communication skills in English. Youll be working alongside a highly experienced AI technical lead and a strong full stack team and will be expected to contribute to a range of efforts from prompt engineering to tuning retrieval/generation flows and building agents.

Requirements

Must-Have Skills

• Strong Python skills
• Experience with OpenAI APIs and prompt engineering
• Familiarity with agent frameworks (e.g., LlamaIndex, LangChain, AutoGPT, etc.)
• Solid grasp of RAG systems and vector databases (we use the Google stack)
• Experience measuring performance via groundedness, relevancy, and faithfulness metrics
• Hands-on experience with GCP (Cloud Functions, VertexAI, storage, compute instances, etc.)

Nice to Have

• Experience with LLM testing tools like DeepEval, Trulens, pytest, etc.
• Prior work on production-grade chatbots or agent-based applications

Responsibilities

• Improve and maintain a RAG-based AI chatbot built with LlamaIndex on GCP
• Tune generation and retrieval pipelines for metrics like groundedness, faithfulness, and relevancy
• Contribute to CI/CD testing using tools like DeepEval
• Refactor parts of the backend using agent-based frameworks
• Collaborate with a distributed dev team and report directly to the technical lead
