About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Portfolio Lead – Infrastructure Support to take ownership of Colombo-based infrastructure support delivery.
This senior leadership role is responsible for coordinating day-to-day support operations, managing a team of cloud and infrastructure engineers, and serving as the primary interface between the Colombo team and the General Manager of Infrastructure Engineering based in Australia.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical foundation in cloud infrastructure who has progressed into leading teams and managing delivery portfolios. You will be responsible for driving operational excellence, maintaining high support quality, and uplifting team capability, while ensuring alignment with organisational standards, tools, and practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mid-to-senior cloud and infrastructure engineers
- Act as the primary escalation point for infrastructure support incidents, service requests, and platform issues
- Coordinate infrastructure support delivery across multiple Australian client environments, ensuring SLA compliance and high-quality outcomes
- Maintain visibility of team capacity, workloads, and resourcing, with regular reporting to the GM Infrastructure Engineering
- Drive continuous improvement across support processes, runbooks, tooling, and knowledge management practices
- Foster a culture of operational discipline, accountability, and technical excellence
- Collaborate closely with Australia-based infrastructure, application, and service operations teams to ensure seamless delivery
- Support hiring, onboarding, and capability development as the Colombo team grows
- Ensure adherence to governance, security, compliance, and change management standards
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- 5–8 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, systems engineering, or managed services environments
- Proven experience leading infrastructure or cloud engineering teams in a support or managed services setting
- Hands-on experience with AWS and/or Microsoft Azure (networking, IAM, compute, storage)
- Strong knowledge of ITSM principles and service delivery frameworks (incident, change, problem management)
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities across multiple environments under time pressure
- Experience working in regulated industries (e.g., financial services, healthcare) with compliance and audit awareness
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders
- Strong people leadership skills including coaching, performance management, and team development.
Highly Desirable
- AWS or Azure certifications (e.g., AZ-104, AWS Solutions Architect Associate)
- Experience with ITSM tools such as ConnectWise, Jira Service Management, or ServiceNow
- Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, ARM templates)
- Exposure to monitoring and observability platforms (Datadog, Azure Monitor, CloudWatch)
- Experience working with offshore or nearshore delivery teams in a support model
- Knowledge of financial services compliance frameworks such as APRA CPS 234
- Experience leveraging AI tools (e.g., Claude, GitHub Copilot) to improve operational efficiency
Reporting & Working Arrangements
- Reports directly to the GM Infrastructure Engineering (Australia-based)
- Requires alignment with Australian Eastern Time (AET) for a significant portion of the workday to support real-time collaboration
