Job Overview

We are looking for a motivated and technically skilled Assistant Mechanical Engineer to join our client's manufacturing plant in Horana. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting the maintenance and smooth operation of plant machinery, ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and contributing to efficient production processes. This role is ideal for individuals with strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and experience in industrial manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, routine, and breakdown maintenance of plant machinery to ensure maximum operational efficiency.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain compressed air systems, hydraulic systems, and other mechanical equipment.
  • Assist in diagnosing equipment faults, carrying out repairs, and implementing corrective maintenance activities.
  • Monitor machinery performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards while working collaboratively with production and maintenance teams.

Requirements

  • NDT (National Diploma in Technology) or an equivalent technical qualification below degree level (e.g., NDES, HNDE, or equivalent).
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in an industrial manufacturing plant.
  • Strong knowledge of machinery maintenance, compressed air systems, and hydraulic systems.
  • Knowledge of industrial LPG gas systems will be an added advantage.
  • Good diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer literate with good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Well-organized, able to work under pressure, and a strong team player.
  • Age below 30 years.
