Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Needs Teacher to join our team. The Special Needs Teacher will play a vital role in designing and implementing individualized education programs for students with special needs, ensuring their academic progress and overall well-being.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  2. Valid teaching license or certification in special education (or willingness to obtain one).
  3. Proven experience working with students with special needs in an educational setting.
  4. Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  5. Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  6. Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students with diverse learning needs.
  7. Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt teaching strategies to meet individual student needs.
  8. Flexibility, creativity, and problem-solving skills in addressing the challenges of diverse learners.
  9. Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, in collaboration with parents, caregivers, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  2. Adapt teaching methods, instructional materials, and assessment strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students with disabilities, including but not limited to autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disabilities, and learning disabilities.
  3. Provide direct instruction and support to students in various academic subjects, life skills, social skills, and behavioural interventions.
  4. Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes positive behaviour management techniques, social-emotional learning, and peer interactions.
  5. Collaborate with special education aides, therapists, counsellors, and other support staff to ensure the holistic development of students with special needs.
  6. Monitor and assess student progress regularly, and adjust teaching strategies and interventions as needed to facilitate optimal learning outcomes.
  7. Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress, achievements, and areas for growth, and actively involve them in the educational process.
  8. Participate in individualized education program (IEP) meetings, case conferences, and other team meetings to review student goals, progress, and support.
  9. Stay abreast of best practices, research-based interventions, and legislative requirements in the field of special education, and incorporate them into instructional practices.
  10. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of student progress, assessments, and interventions, in compliance with regulatory standards and school policies.
