Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CA/CPA/ACCA qualification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in tax advisory or tax management, with specific experience handling IRD transactions and documentation.
  • In-depth knowledge of Sri Lankan tax laws, regulations, and tax planning strategies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively explain complex tax issues to clients.
  • Leadership and team management skills, with a focus on developing junior staff.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work efficiently under pressure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the tax department, ensuring timely and accurate filing of all tax returns for a diverse client base.
  • Handle complex IRD-related transactions, documentation, and correspondence, ensuring full compliance with current Sri Lankan tax laws.
  • Provide expert guidance on tax compliance, tax planning, and advisory services.
  • Review tax returns prepared by junior staff to ensure accuracy and compliance with Sri Lankan tax laws.
  • Research and interpret complex tax regulations, keeping the team updated on legislative changes and new tax rulings.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for clients on all tax-related matters, offering strategic tax solutions tailored to their needs.
  • Develop and implement tax-efficient strategies to optimize clients' tax positions and minimize tax liabilities.
  • Mentor and train tax assistants and junior staff members, enhancing their skills and ensuring a high-quality tax service.
  • Collaborate with partners and senior management to drive the firm's strategic objectives in the tax domain.
