Job Overview

The Chartered Civil Engineer will oversee building construction projects from planning to completion, ensuring technical compliance, quality, safety, cost control, and timely project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, supervise, and monitor construction projects from inception to completion.
• Conduct site inspections, progress evaluations, and quality reviews.
• Ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, contracts, and statutory requirements.
• Coordinate with architects, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and government authorities.
• Review technical drawings, method statements, material submissions, and work schedules.
• Monitor project budgets, resources, timelines, and overall performance.
• Identify project risks, delays, and technical issues and implement corrective actions.
• Prepare project progress reports and provide updates to management and clients.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Conduct site measurements, valuations, and verification of contractor claims.
• Support procurement, tender evaluations, project planning, and contract administration.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and site teams.

Qualifications & Requirements

• BSc in Civil Engineering, Building Construction, or a related discipline from a government-recognized university.
• Corporate Membership of the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL) is mandatory.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in the construction industry, with significant exposure to building construction projects.
• Experience in large-scale commercial, residential, industrial, or mixed-development projects will be an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, structural engineering principles, and building regulations.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project, and MS Office.
• Knowledge of project planning, budgeting, cost control, and contract administration.
• Strong project management, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel island-wide to project sites as required.
