About Our Client
Our client is a well-established engineering and construction organization involved in large-scale building and infrastructure projects.
Job Overview
The Chartered Civil Engineer will oversee building construction projects from planning to completion, ensuring technical compliance, quality, safety, cost control, and timely project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, supervise, and monitor construction projects from inception to completion.
- Conduct site inspections, progress evaluations, and quality reviews.
- Ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, contracts, and statutory requirements.
- Coordinate with architects, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and government authorities.
- Review technical drawings, method statements, material submissions, and work schedules.
- Monitor project budgets, resources, timelines, and overall performance.
- Identify project risks, delays, and technical issues and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare project progress reports and provide updates to management and clients.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Conduct site measurements, valuations, and verification of contractor claims.
- Support procurement, tender evaluations, project planning, and contract administration.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and site teams.
Qualifications & Requirements
- BSc in Civil Engineering, Building Construction, or a related discipline from a government-recognized university.
- Corporate Membership of the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL) is mandatory.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in the construction industry, with significant exposure to building construction projects.
- Experience in large-scale commercial, residential, industrial, or mixed-development projects will be an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, structural engineering principles, and building regulations.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project, and MS Office.
- Knowledge of project planning, budgeting, cost control, and contract administration.
- Strong project management, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to travel island-wide to project sites as required.
