Job Overview

The Housekeeping Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day housekeeping operations, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, presentation, and guest satisfaction. The role involves managing the housekeeping team, coordinating with other departments, monitoring operational standards, and ensuring efficient use of resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily housekeeping operations and ensure consistent cleanliness and hygiene standards.
  • Lead, supervise, and motivate the housekeeping team.
  • Prepare staff schedules, assign duties, and monitor performance.
  • Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas.
  • Ensure compliance with housekeeping procedures, safety standards, and hygiene requirements.
  • Monitor and manage housekeeping supplies, equipment, and inventory.
  • Coordinate with Front Office, Maintenance, and other departments to address operational requirements.
  • Handle guest requests and resolve housekeeping-related concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Train and develop housekeeping staff to maintain high service standards.
  • Monitor departmental expenses and ensure efficient use of resources.
    Prepare and maintain relevant housekeeping reports and records.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Diploma or relevant qualification in Hospitality Management, Housekeeping, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in housekeeping, with proven supervisory or managerial experience.
  • Previous experience in a hotel or similar hospitality environment is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of housekeeping operations, cleaning standards, and hygiene practices.
  • Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.
  • Good organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to handle guest concerns and operational challenges professionally.
  • Good command of English; knowledge of Sinhala/Tamil would be an added advantage.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays when required.
