About the job Dietary Aide (Shelburne)
As a valued member of our culinary team you will assist with plating and serving of meals. and will be responsible for cleaning serving areas, as well as equipment. While following established policies, procedures and standards.
- Follow established policies, procedures, work systems, and cleaning procedures to meet regulatory requirements
- Ensures food is prepared and served in accordance with health and food guidelines
- Uses all dietary equipment with competence
- Participates in meal presentation
- Works cooperatively with the interdisciplinary team
- Assists in planning and organizing food preparation to ensure all meals and snacks are served on time, at an appropriate temperature, texture, and quantity
- Cleans cares for, and stores equipment properly in designated areas after each use
- Responsible for reporting any required repair work or deficiency in the environment
- Delivers and serves meals according to resident's assessed needs
- Assists with dining room clean-up
- Assists in preparing the food and the environment for all special events
- Must participate on various facility and department committees as required
- Use CQI/Risk Management process to evaluate and ensure follow-up
- Must actively participate in ongoing educational opportunities
- Required to promote wellness as a concept of living
- Participates as required in the formulation and maintenance of departmental policies and procedures, goals, and objectives
- Works cooperatively with volunteers and student placements to enhance the scope of the department
- Uses supplies and equipment effectively and efficiently
- Provides input as required and as per resident’s likes and dislikes, on menu planning and changes
- Protects own health and health of others by adopting safe work practices, reporting unsafe conditions immediately, and attending all relevant in-services regarding occupational health and safety
- Follows all roles and responsibilities for employees and employers as legislated under the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Is competent in the safe use of chemicals (WHMIS guidelines)
What you bring
• Successful completion and/or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act required.
• Current Food Handler`s Certificate
• Previous dietary experience preferred in LTC (Long Term Care) Home 0-1 year(s).
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to read and write English as well as to understand simple verbal and written instructions in English.
• Ability to work safely, following established safety practices and procedures. • Must be able to do moderate to heavy lifting
