Position Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Casual Personal Support Worker (PSW) to join our team. The PSW will provide essential care and support to individuals who require assistance with daily activities. The ideal candidate will be patient, empathetic, and committed to enhancing the quality of life for those they serve.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist clients with daily living activities, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
  • Provide support with mobility, transfers, and ambulation as needed.
  • Administer medication according to prescribed instructions.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature.
  • Assist with meal preparation, feeding, and ensuring dietary preferences are met.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, including light housekeeping and laundry duties.
  • Engage in meaningful interactions and companionship with clients to promote emotional well-being.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, families, and caregivers to ensure holistic care.
  • Document client care activities accurately and maintain up-to-date records.
  • Respond to emergencies or changes in clients' conditions promptly and appropriately.
  • Provide respectful and dignified end-of-life care when necessary.
  • Adhere to ethical and professional standards in caregiving.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Completion of a recognized Personal Support Worker program.
  • Valid certification as a Personal Support Worker.
  • Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Recent TB Test or Chest X-Ray
  • First Aid or CPR Certificate
  • Previous experience in caregiving or a related field is an asset.
  • Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Physical fitness and ability to perform lifting and mobility tasks.
  • Knowledge of infection control and safety protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Compassionate attitude and genuine commitment to enhancing clients' quality of life.
