Job Purpose

The Global Sourcing and Procurement Manager is responsible for leading the strategic sourcing and procurement activities of Milele Motors. The role involves identifying, evaluating, and establishing relationships with suppliers globally to source vehicles that meet the company's requirements for both trading and rental operations. The manager will ensure a continuous supply of quality vehicles at competitive prices, aligning with the company's export focus to Africa and rental business needs. This position demands a deep understanding of global automotive markets, supplier negotiations, cost management, and compliance with relevant regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement global sourcing strategies to meet the company's vehicle procurement needs.
  • Identify and qualify new suppliers globally, focusing on markets that offer the best value in terms of price, quality, and reliability.
  • Analyze market trends and conditions to understand supply opportunities and risks.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, ensuring the company's requirements are met consistently.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements with suppliers, securing favorable terms for the company.
  • Monitor supplier performance and ensure compliance with agreed-upon quality standards, delivery timelines, and other contractual obligations.
  • Oversee the procurement process from vehicle selection to delivery, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Work closely with internal teams (Sales, Operations, and Logistics) to align procurement activities with business objectives.
  • Manage inventory levels to ensure an adequate supply of vehicles for both the export and rental businesses.
  • Develop and manage the procurement budget, ensuring cost control and achieving targeted savings.
  • Track and report on key procurement metrics, providing insights into cost savings, supplier performance, and market conditions.
  • Identify and mitigate risks in the sourcing and procurement process, including geopolitical risks, supply chain disruptions, and market volatility.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, particularly those related to international trade and vehicle safety.
  • Lead and mentor the procurement team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities in sourcing and procurement.

Skills required:

  • In-depth understanding of the global automotive market, including key suppliers, vehicle specifications, and market trends.
  • Knowledge of import/export regulations, particularly those relevant to African markets.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable terms from
  • suppliers.
  • Experience in drafting and managing contracts with international suppliers.
  • Ability to analyze market data, supplier proposals, and financial information to make informed sourcing decisions.
  • Proficient in cost-benefit analysis, risk assessment, and market trend forecasting.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple sourcing projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams and working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, internal teams, and senior management.
  • Proven track record of leading and developing a high-performing procurement team.
  • Ability to drive change and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
