The technically strong and detail-oriented Senior Accountant – Fixed Assets & Inventory takes ownership of these critical areas of financial accounting and control. This role will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the fixed asset register, compliance with accounting standards, and robust processes over capital expenditure and inventory. Fixed Assets will represent the primary focus of the position, while inventory responsibilities will include overseeing valuation, reconciliations, and manufacturing accounting. Role and Responsibilities Fixed Assets (Primary Focus) · Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register in compliance with accounting standards (AASB/IFRS). · Record and monitor asset acquisitions, disposals, transfers, impairments, and revaluations. · Manage construction-in-progress (CIP) accounts and ensure timely capitalisation of projects. · Calculate and post monthly depreciation, reviewing useful lives and residual values regularly. · Partner with project, operations, and procurement teams to ensure appropriate asset classification and accounting treatment. · Prepare and review capex reporting, ensuring spend is properly approved and tracked against budgets. · Lead process improvements to strengthen asset management controls and reporting accuracy. · Prepare fixed asset audit schedules and act as the key liaison with auditors. Inventory (Including Manufacturing & Operations Accounting) · Oversee the accounting treatment of raw materials, work in progress, and finished goods. · Ensure accurate valuation of inventory, including standard costing and production variances. · Review stock reconciliations and investigate discrepancies between financial and physical counts. · Support manufacturing accounting by analysing production costs, variances (materials, labour, overhead), and allocations. · Partner with operations and supply chain teams to maintain accurate reporting of stock movements and controls. · Ensure compliance with AASB/IFRS standards (AASB 102) and company policies for inventory accounting. General · Prepare month-end journals, reconciliations, and reporting for fixed assets and inventory. · Provide financial data and insights to management, focusing on compliance and accuracy. · Support budgeting and forecasting processes for capital expenditure and inventory. · Provide technical guidance to the finance team and wider business · Ownership of balance sheet reconciliation related to the Operations Accounting role. Controls and processes · Development of company standard operating procedures · Develop and maintain internal controls across asset and stock accounting processes. · Ensuring adherence with company policy, controls and procedures · Review and continuous improvement of accounting systems and processes. Qualifications and Education Requirements · A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar field · A degree in Accountancy Finance or related field is a must · CPA or CA qualified is preferred · Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of software packages particularly Excel application · Strong technical accounting and reporting skills with exposure in ensuring compliance in a regulatory framework (including GST/VAT style regime) Preferred Skills: · Strong problem-solving ability – understanding main issues and be able to recommend solutions. · Proven ability to multitask and prioritise successfully. · Demonstrated experience in continuous process improvement Additional Notes Position will be aligned with standard work hours for Sydney 8:30am – 5pm. Position is on site in the Manilla office 5 days per week
