Your Role
As a Payroll Specialist, you will:
Manage complex weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payroll cycles, ensuring accurate calculations of salaries, deductions, and statutory withholdings.
Coordinate and consolidate multiple data sources, stakeholders, and internal teams required to execute timely payroll runs.
Collect and validate all monthly payroll variations, including overtime, night shifts, sick/parental leaves, and vacation time.
Oversee the timely filing of monthly statutory social security platforms and payroll tax contributions to ensure full Colombian local compliance.
Calculate employee termination liquidations, final settlements, and statutory mandatory benefits (such as mid-year/end-of-year bonuses and severance payouts) while conducting routine reconciliations.
Maintain the payroll system database, generate monthly reports for internal finance teams, and support global payroll controls or audits.
Act as the primary point of contact for employees regarding payroll discrepancies, tax questions, and employment certifications.
What You Need
Non-negotiables
Education: Technical/Vocational degree, or a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 2 to 3 years of direct experience handling end-to-end payroll processing and social security filings in Colombia.
High-Headcount Execution: Proven experience executing end-to-end payroll processing for high-headcount organizations (preferably 300+ FTE).
Language: Fluent English (written and spoken) for reporting, global systems usage, and communication with international stakeholders.
Technical Skills: Intermediate-to-advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (lookup functions, pivot tables) and hands-on experience with standard Colombian payroll systems.
Compliance Knowledge: Deep experience managing Colombian social security platforms and maintaining strict local payroll laws.
Preferred skills/expertise
Previous experience executing payroll and tax-related processes in a multi-country or multi-geo environment.
Direct experience coordinating and executing payroll tasks across multiple time zones.
General understanding of global payroll nuances, statutory requirements, and compliance considerations in the Philippines, Australia, and the United States.
Hands-on experience supporting payroll reporting, external/internal audits, complex reconciliations, or cross-border payroll controls.
