Our Client is a leading independent reinsurance group, provide a wide range of niche and specialty reinsurance products to property and casualty insurers, now seeking to hire a "Accounting Manager" at their office in Beirut.
This position reports to the Senior Finance Manager.
Supervises: Accounting Team
Role Summary:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for the accounting and financial activities of the company and plays an important role providing key stakeholders with proper insight on the financial performance of the company, including expected performance through development of budgets and forecasts. The Accounting Managers role is to produce accurate and timely financial reports and develop proper strategies and actions, and ensure compliance with accounting standards, best practices and applicable laws and regulations, covering all the entities activities.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Oversee the Beirut accounting department duties and day to day operations
2. Oversee the finance and accounting practices of all company entities accountants
3. Ensure accounting is performed according to applicable standards
4. Establish and maintain finance and accounting policies and procedures to maintain a solid internal control
framework as per best practices
5. Ensure proper and timely reconciliations are made with banks, third parties, related entities, etc.
6. Ensure assets are protected against theft and misuse
7. Establish proper procedures for coordination with the Technical Accounting and Claims teams
8. Perform technical closing with the accounting team in coordination with the Technical Accounting team
9. Identify risks and suggest mitigation actions to senior management timely, and ensure resolution and per
decisions of senior management
10. Analyze financial performance against key business metrics and document pertinent financial highlights
that will enable senior management to determine progress against budgets and take business decisions
11. Prepare timely and accurate monthly financial statements and reports and present them to senior
management, the board of directors, the Group representatives and other stakeholders
12. Assist in the preparation of the annual budget, forecasts and assist senior management in the development
of business plans and feasibility studies
13. Provide insightful information and expectations to senior executives to aid in long-term and short-term
decision making
14. Ensure compliance of accounting records and practices with statutory and regulatory requirements
15. Ensure tax filings are done accurately and timely
16. Manage relationship with banks and ensure proper follow-up on requests (payments, receipts, investments,
etc.)
17. Coordinate with various managers and stakeholders to discuss plans and agree on future strategies and
actions
18. Conduct reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction possibilities to identify opportunities to save cost and
grow the business and raise such opportunities to senior management
19. Assist the internal, external and Group auditors in their requests and make sure their recommendations
and properly and timely implemented
20. Stay up to date with accounting standards and new regulations
21. Perform any other ad-hoc duties and requests related to financial matters as requested by superiors
Job Requirements
Academic Qualifications
-Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or any
related fields
-Masters degree is a plus
-CPA is a must
Required Language
-English
-Arabic
-French (is a plus)
Required Software Proficient in the use of Sage or similar software
Work experience At least 8 years of experience
