Overview
The general manager provides strategic leadership and executive direction for the Heavy Equipment Rental Business Unit, holding full P&L accountability. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, reliable heavy equipment and skilled operators to mining client sites. By driving world-class maintenance standards, operational efficiency, and strict adherence to Indonesian mining safety regulations, the General Manager maximizes return on assets and builds long-term, profitable partnerships with mine owners and contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate and execute the annual business plan and operational budget to achieve the division's revenue, profit margin, and growth targets.
  • Lead commercial negotiations and manage Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with mining clients to ensure favorable contract terms and sustainable project economics.
  • Direct comprehensive preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs across the fleet to consistently achieve targeted Physical Availability (PA) and Use of Availability (UA).
  • Oversee the complete asset life-cycle, from procurement recommendations to component rebuilds and end-of-life disposal, to optimize capital expenditure and minimize Mean Time To Repair (MTTR).
  • Oversee the deployment and scheduling of heavy equipment and operators across multiple remote mining sites to meet client production targets (e.g., BCM/Ton) without disruption.
  • Implement rigorous cost-control measures targeting high-impact operational expenses, specifically fuel burn rates, tire management, and spare parts inventory, to maximize cost efficiency.
  • Lead a large, multi-site workforce comprising Site Managers, Plant Managers, Chief Mechanics, and hundreds of Heavy Equipment Operators.
  • Establish comprehensive competency development and training programs for operators to improve productivity and reduce equipment abuse/mishandling.
  • Build a high-performing management team through effective coaching, performance evaluations, and succession planning.
  • Champion a "Zero Harm" safety culture and enforce strict adherence to the Sistem Manajemen Keselamatan Pertambangan (SMKP), while supporting site-based teams in meeting KTT safety mandates to mitigate operational and environmental risks.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or Business Administration; a Master's Degree or MBA is highly advantageous.
  • Minimum of 15 years of operational experience in the mining, heavy equipment, or mining contracting sectors, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (General Manager or Operations Director level).
  • Deep understanding of heavy equipment specifications and maintenance systems for major brands (e.g., Caterpillar, Komatsu, Volvo, Hitachi).
  • Proven track record in managing large-scale equipment rental contracts based on hourly rates, volume-based rates (BCM/Ton), or dry/wet hire models.
  • Must hold an Indonesian Mining Competency Certificate, minimum Pengawas Operasional Madya (POM), with Pengawas Operasional Utama (POU) strongly preferred.
  • Strong business acumen with knowledge in current and future policies, practices, trends, and information affecting the organization.
  • Strategic agility with the ability to see ahead clearly, anticipate future consequences and trends accurately, and maintain a broad perspective.
  • Strong drive for results; can be counted on to exceed goals successfully and is very bottom-line oriented.
  • Proficient in directing others by establishing clear directions, setting stretching objectives, and organizing work well.
  • Capable of managing vision and purpose by communicating a compelling and inspired vision and remaining optimistic.
  • Willing to be placed at operational mining sites across the Merdeka Group.
