Job Overview: The Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is a vital member of our healthcare team, providing direct nursing care to patients in accordance with established policies and procedures. The RN collaborates with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals to assess care needs, plan interventions, and evaluate outcomes. In addition to delivering direct patient care, the RN may supervise LVNs and non-licensed nursing staff. Charge nurse responsibilities include patient assignments, staff supervision, and unit oversight during assigned shifts.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and address the nursing care needs of patients, ensuring care is age-appropriate and aligns with safety guidelines.
- Provide direct patient care and supervise LVNs and non-licensed nursing staff.
- Assume charge nurse duties, making patient assignments, and overseeing staff and unit activities during the shift.
- Adhere to Nursing Department policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
- Maintain current TX RN licensure or RN Compact State License.
- Possess current BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA) certifications.
- Hold a BSN degree.
- Have a minimum of one year of recent experience as an RN in a high-acuity PCU unit.
- Demonstrate acute care experience.
- Salary range: $29.44 - $42.95 an hour, based on experience.
- Shift differentials: Weekend - $4.20.
- Shifts: Day and Night Shifts available.

Qualifications:
- TX RN licensure or RN Compact State License.
- BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA) certifications.
- BSN degree.
- Minimum one year of recent experience in a high-acuity PCU unit.
- Acute care experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative healthcare team.
- Flexibility in adapting to varying shifts.
