Role Description:
Our client is seeking a proactive and driven Business Development Manager to join their Melbourne team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong sales background within the logistics and freight forwarding industry, with a particular focus on exports. This role demands an individual who can identify and develop new business opportunities, cultivate and maintain client relationships, and consistently achieve sales targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Development: Identify and capitalise on new business opportunities through lead generation, networking, and market analysis.
- Client Relationship Management: Develop and sustain strong relationships with existing clients to ensure high levels of satisfaction and loyalty.
- Sales Strategy: Formulate and execute effective sales strategies and plans to meet and exceed sales targets.
- Market Insight: Keep abreast of market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to uncover new growth opportunities for the export division.
- Presentations and Proposals: Craft and deliver compelling presentations and proposals to potential clients.
- Sales Reporting: Accurately document sales activities, client interactions, and pipeline status using CargoWise software.
- Collaboration: Partner with operations and internal teams to ensure seamless service delivery to clients.
- Feedback Loop: Provide insights to management on market trends, customer feedback, and areas for service enhancement.
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with company executives to determine the most effective and cost-efficient strategies for pursuing new business opportunities.
- Additional Duties: Undertake any other tasks that fall within the general scope of the role.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 3 years experience in business development and sales, particularly in the export market.
- Strong understanding of international trade regulations and transportation documentation.
- Established relationships with airlines and shipping lines.
- Bachelors degree preferred.
- Proficiency in CargoWise or similar software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
- Excellent negotiation and decision-making skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and management abilities.
- Customer-focused with a professional demeanour.
- Previous experience with CRM software.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel as required.
