Role Description:

Our client is seeking a proactive and driven Business Development Manager to join their Sydney team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong sales background within the logistics and freight forwarding industry, with a particular focus on exports. This role demands an individual who can identify and develop new business opportunities, cultivate and maintain client relationships, and consistently achieve sales targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Development: Identify and capitalise on new business opportunities through lead generation, networking, and market analysis.
  • Client Relationship Management: Develop and sustain strong relationships with existing clients to ensure high levels of satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Sales Strategy: Formulate and execute effective sales strategies and plans to meet and exceed sales targets.
  • Market Insight: Keep abreast of market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to uncover new growth opportunities for the export division.
  • Presentations and Proposals: Craft and deliver compelling presentations and proposals to potential clients.
  • Sales Reporting: Accurately document sales activities, client interactions, and pipeline status using CargoWise software.
  • Collaboration: Partner with operations and internal teams to ensure seamless service delivery to clients.
  • Feedback Loop: Provide insights to management on market trends, customer feedback, and areas for service enhancement.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with company executives to determine the most effective and cost-efficient strategies for pursuing new business opportunities.
  • Additional Duties: Undertake any other tasks that fall within the general scope of the role.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years experience in business development and sales, particularly in the export market.
  • Strong understanding of international trade regulations and transportation documentation.
  • Established relationships with airlines and shipping lines.
  • Bachelors degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in CargoWise or similar software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
  • Excellent negotiation and decision-making skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and management abilities.
  • Customer-focused with a professional demeanour.
  • Previous experience with CRM software.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Self-motivated and results-driven.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
