As a member of the Structured Finance team, a Financial Analyst plays a crucial role in supporting the sourcing and closing of tax equity & debt financing. A Financial Analyst will be responsible for managing critical aspects of the financing process with the mission of driving toward a smooth and timely closing. This position combines a high degree of external and interdepartmental coordination with project finance expertise. An effective candidate will demonstrate superior organization, attention to detail, strong initiative, an excellent ability to navigate/interpret project finance models, juggle multiple tasks and communicate clearly and effectively to various stakeholders. This position reports directly to the Manager of Structured Finance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Tax Equity / Debt Diligence
    • Key point of contact for projects across multiple discrete tax equity/debt funds.
    • Interface with internal and external parties to manage the timely development and delivery of all documents, reports, and other closing deliverables, including but not limited to:
      • Excel-based financial model / appraisal report
      • Major project agreements (EPC, interconnection, site access, SREC, O&M, etc.)
      • Land surveys / title insurance
      • Independent engineer and technical diligence reports
      • Legal/organizational documents
    • Diligently track construction and commissioning developments, support compliance with relevant federal/state/local requirements as financing progresses
    • Create & maintain project-level cash flow projections and cost summaries
    • Attend regular calls with investors; provide timely updates and responses to ad hoc Q&A, including quantitative and qualitative analysis in support of the general financing process
    • Create and maintain virtual data rooms
    • Facilitate smooth and efficient handoff of projects to SSIs operations team in the aftermath of closing
  • Support outreach to prospective investors/lenders

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelors degree with a concentration in economics, finance, energy, or related field
  • Masters with a concentration in economics, finance, energy or related is preferred
  • 2+ years professional experience, preferably in renewables or finance-related field
    • Direct tax equity/debt experience strongly preferred
  • Proficient in Excel; ability to manipulate and interpret large financial models
  • Direct experience building/navigating project finance models is a plus
  • Strong interest in solar/renewables; desire to build a career in the solar industry
  • Basic understanding of tax equity and debt structures
  • Strong work ethic and ability to self-start in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to take initiative and problem-solve; flexibility to tackle emerging tasks as needed
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Task-oriented; high attention to detail
