Job Purpose:
The Finance Director at YOLA will play a crucial role in managing the organization's financial health, ensuring compliance, and providing strategic guidance. This role requires financial expertise, risk management capabilities, strategic thinking, and strong leadership skills. The ideal candidate will have experience in the service industry, B2C, or retail chains and will work closely with the CEO to drive efficiency and profitability.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Financial Expertise:
- Oversee cash flow management and implement effective treasury controls.
- Develop and manage budgets that align with various operational departments needs.
- Prepare detailed and timely financial reports for the Executive Leadership Team.
2. Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and financial regulations.
- Manage internal control operations and the relationship with external auditors.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks.
3. Strategic Thinking:
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Provide strategic financial recommendations to support business decisions.
- Analyze and interpret business data, including product effectiveness, pricing, and competitive positioning with the market.
4. Leadership:
- Recruit, train, mentor, and develop finance staff.
- Supervise Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Tax, Treasury, Payroll, and Financial and Management Accounting functions.
5. Collaboration and Partnership:
- Partner proactively with marketing, operations, and academic teams to drive cost-saving initiatives and enhance product effectiveness.
- Support the CEO in achieving greater efficiency and profitability.
- Work constructively with various departments to support overall business goals.
6. Perform other duties required by the CEO/ Chairman
Key requirements:
1. Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Finance Director or similar role, preferably in the service industry, B2C, or retail chains.
- In-depth knowledge of corporate finance, accounting principles, laws, and best practices.
- Solid experience in financial reporting, risk management, and internal control.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret business data and provide strategic insights.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; a Masters degree or professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is preferred.
