Structured Cabling Technician
About the job Structured Cabling Technician
Education & Certification:
- Diploma in Electronics/Electrical/Telecommunications (minimum).
Experience:
- 56 years of experience in telecommunication and cabling system maintenance within the oil & gas industry.
- Proven hands-on experience in:
- Fiber optic installation, splicing, termination, and testing.
- Copper cabling infrastructure.
- Backbone cabling (inter-building & intra-building).
- Supporting analog/digital voice, data, LAN, video, and low-voltage devices.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, splice, terminate, and test fiber optic cables (FOC) and copper cabling systems.
- Maintain and support infrastructure cabling systems for:
Analog and digital voice communication systems.
Data networks and special LAN applications.
Video systems and low-voltage device integration.
- Implement and maintain:
Inter-building backbone cabling systems (connecting different facilities/sites).
Intra-building backbone cabling systems (within buildings).
- Conduct troubleshooting, fault analysis, and problem resolution of cabling systems.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of structured cabling and associated telecom systems.
- Provide system backup, recovery, and OS reinstallation support for PC-based systems.
- Manage and update SAP maintenance requests with accurate documentation.
- Support system expansions, upgrades, and integration projects as required.
- Ensure compliance with HSE standards and safe work practices in all activities.
