Sr. Piping Engineer (Stress) Minimum 12 years of experience

  • JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • Reporting to the Discipline Lead Engineer and Discipline Manager, the candidate will assume sole responsibility for assigned piping engineering work as per project scope
  • Well conversant with and experience in the application of international design codes and standards such as ANSI/ASME, ASTM, API. Have hands on experience in ASME B31.1 & B31. 3 code, ISO 14692 code in GRP/FRP, Shell DEP etc.
  • Knowledge of Piping Flexibility, Pipeline Stress Analysis, Supporting, and related codes and standards. Well conversant with the project scope of work, specifications, project schedule and all inter-discipline coordination.
  • Responsible for piping analysis work on new and existing piping / pipeline, and will interface with systems engineering, structural engineering, piping design, and support design groups, for the design of piping systems and pipe supporting elements.
  • Well conversant with Piping Stress analysis of various line connected to Pressure Vessels, Heat Exchangers, Centrifugal Pumps and Storage Tanks in Oil & Gas, Refinery, Power and Petrochemicals sector.
  • Knowledge of Pipeline Mechanical Calculations, including Wall Thickness Calculations, Stress Analysis, Anchor Block and Anchor Flange Load calculations, Using Alignment Sheets, Road and River Crossing Methods
  • Preparation of project piping stress specification, identification and preparation of critical line list as per standard/project requirement.
  • Prepare analytical reports determining the stress check, reactions of piping on equipment and structures as per code requirements using Caesar II software.
  • Preparation of stress isometric, support mark up and stress analysis report.
  • Checking of isometrics being issued for construction for stress and support point of view
  • Review proposed piping support systems, identify issues, and recommend appropriate, cost-effective solutions and design of all piping supports components.
  • Static piping stress analysis of piping as per standard code such as ASME B31.3, ISO 14692 codes etc,
  • Envelope curves for the GRP pipes are studied and values are used as per ISO 14692 code.
  • Analysis of piping connected to rotating equipment like pumps, compressors and qualifying nozzles using modules code like API 610, API 617.
  • Issues piping loads to civil and structural discipline for design of pipe-rack/ technological structures and foundations
  • Review of Clients technical documentation and requirements
  • Reviews and approve vendors / sub-contracted documents and support engineering documents
  • Travel to job sites to resolve field problems related to pipe and support design, stress analysis and pipe reaction on equipment issues.
  • Responsible for checking nozzle local loads / stress on equipment & piping flexibilities by Caesar ii module.
  • Perform flange leakage analysis by pressure equivalent method and NC 3658.3 method.
  • Modeled trunnion support and performed trunnion load calculation based on Kelloggs method.
  • Expansion loop design size calculation based on Kelloggs method.
  • Pipe wall thickness, SIF calculation and branch reinforcement pad calculation was done.

  • SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Professional Degree in Mechanical / Chemical Engineering or in similar Engineering field.
  • 12+ yrs in oil and gas with major contractor or consultant performing detail design projects.
  • Perform conceptual, FEED and detailed engineering and design as per design basis, project specifications, clients specification and procedures, design codes and standards.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, CAESAR II Pipe Stress Analysis software.
  • Familiar with relevant design and analysis softwares.
  • Qatar regional project execution experience is preferred.
