Qualifications

  • Degree in Science/Engineering from a recognised technical university.

Knowledge and/or Experience - I

  • 10 years experience working in a world class organisation in the environmental arena with at least 3 years in supervisory role.
  • Attains and maintains technical competence as per Company Job Family Technical Competency matrix.
  • Advanced knowledge across environmental specializations, expert knowledge desirable in at least one media (air, water, soil).

Job Purpose

  • Lead environmental management of Ras Laffan site operations to ensure environmental compliance in line with regulatory requirements, improve environmental performance and minimize environmental impacts and risks for CLIENT assets.

Job Context & Major Challenge(s) - I

  • Promotes culture of environmental protection, compliance and awareness for large and complex operating assets and within a multi-national, multi-cultural environment while adhering to and being sensitive to local customs and requirements.
  • Challenge to understand and balance operational and business needs with environmental performance and compliance requirements.
  • Challenge is to drive complex environmental protection requirements for large and critical Client Assets with the objective to minimize environmental risks and reputational impacts on CLIENT operations.
  • Implements comprehensive monitoring and reporting systems catering to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and leveraging best available practices and implementing innovative solutions to optimize environmental performance.

Key Job Accountabilities - I

  • Leads implementation of environmental requirements for CLIENT onshore and offshore site operations to ensure compliance with Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) requirements and Company procedures. Establishes and maintains environmental protection programs, including flaring, air emissions, water, groundwater and noise, leveraging best practices to minimize potential environmental impacts and risks for operating assets.
  • Implements COMPANY Environmental Management System (EMS) requirements across operating assets. Leads the development and review of environmental procedures and supports maintenance and audits of COMPANY EMS, 
  • Establishes and maintains environmental KPIs for site operations and initiatives (as assigned) and monitor and report progress and effectiveness in order to improve environmental performance.
  • Reviews the design of existing, new and upcoming facilities to ensure that proper design considerations are incorporated to ensure that critical environmental aspects have been identified and are controlled effectively.
  • Provides specialist environmental expertise, acts as technical focal point, and collaborates with other departments to develop and implement specific and/or specialised mitigation and monitoring programs, studies and projects to fulfil permit, regulatory and other operational environmental requirement

Key Job Accountabilities - II

  • Leads environmental support and surveillance during critical operational activities, including facility shutdowns. Conducts regular site assessments to address dynamic developments onsite and coordinates response to environmental incidents and issues in partnership with Incident Management Teams (IMTs), Operations, Emergency Management Services (EMS) and Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLIC).
  • Manages activities of the site environmental operations team to ensure effective implementation of environmental procedures, monitoring programs and activities.
  • Guides Operations Leadership on environmental compliance and emerging issues and leads implementation of environmental awareness and improvement initiatives for each asset in partnership with operations.
  • Coordinates activities of the site environmental operations team to ensure effective implementation of environmental procedures, monitoring programs and activities. Stewards environmental contracts, studies and projects, ensuring safe execution and compliance with Company HSE procedures. Develops annual section and team budgets, including financial performance tracking and allocation to/from CLIENT ventures and assets.
