Electrical Engineer

Primary Functions

Surveillance of Contractors and sub-contractors implementation of their quality management

systems to verify compliance to contract documentation and ISO 9000 requirements.

On site inspection of the Contractor / sub-Contractor installation, testing and quality activities during

the electrical works to verify their compliance to construction drawings, project specifications and

contract documents with regard to quality.

Duties and Responsibilities

General

Review and approval of Contractors / sub-Contractors inspection and test plans for

conformance to specifications, codes and standards and identification of electrical

inspection intervention requirements.

Verify quality control documentation in the form of inspection and test plans, method

statements and work instructions and ensuring inspection records / test certificates are

available prior to work commencing.

Ensure work sequence is planned and controlled via implementation and adherence to

QAPCO approved method statements and work instructions.

Undertake "actual", "witness" and "surveillance" inspection activities for all electrical

installations at site as required by inspection and test plans. Verify product conformity

and full compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, codes and standards and

project contract documents.

Review of electrical installation works and instrumentation works, when required, to

verify adequacy of construction and inspection methodologies in producing product

conforming to engineering drawings, specifications, codes and standards and project

contract documents.

Review and acceptance, via signature, of process and inspection verification documents

in the form of inspection and test plans, inspection records, checklists and test

certificates.

Monitor ongoing work status to determine potential interface or schedule problems to aid

application of preventive measures to negate potential negative affect.

Ensure Client regulations, with regard to work safety and environment preservation,

are maintained.

Perform similar other related duties as and when assigned by direct supervisor.

Initiate non conformance reports where quality deficiencies are not satisfactorily

actioned.

Produce / submit daily inspection reports identifying items inspected, acceptance /

rejection rates and areas of concern.

Monitor electrical material and check delivery and storage

Monitor electrical work and ensure that work completed is in conformance with drawings

and specifications

Monitor and record all electrical testing carried out by Contractor and sub-Contractor

Monitor ongoing work of Contractor and sub-Contractors

Review and acceptance of Contractor project documents

Ensure quality of all works and provide assistance to subordinates

Verifying traceability of daily quality records

Education

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

Additional qualifications: Instrumentation is desirable

Experience

10 years relevant experience large size electrical works within large international

onshore petrochemical, oil and gas projects

Skills and Competencies

Familiarity with electrical / instrumentation construction and testing methods and

techniques

Good level of technical understanding in the electrical / instrument engineering discipline

Good knowledge of international codes and standards

Good knowledge of quality control techniques

Fluent in English (spoken and written)

Knowledge of generic computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook,

Adobe Acrobat and specific software packages for the discipline
