Key Responsibilities

Support, coordinate, supervise or lead Petroleum Engineering Projects primarily with Production Chemistry issues for Field Operations staff but often involving multiple departments to achieve business plan targets in a safe and environmentally sound manner. Typical challenges include:

  • - Mitigation of organic and inorganic scales, H2S & CO2, corrosion, oxygen, emulsions, hydrates and biological activity.
  • Optimization of fluid separation and produced water treatment systems.
  • - Performing Stimulation design and Post Stimulation Job analysis for offshore and onshore operations.
  • - Implementation of new technologies and initiatives to ensure high QAQC in current water flooding systems and future EOR projects.
  • - Implementing technical reviews and feed conclusions into continuous improvement projects in all operations and secure cross learning across CLIENT assets related to production chemistry challenges.
  • - Selection, implementation and evaluation of production chemicals and monitor treatment performance.
  • - Active participation in field trials thus ensuring that optimum chemical rates are being used in the fields.
  • Management of contracts to support production chemistry activities.
  • Coach and mentor younger engineers.

Required qualifications, experience and expertise:

  1. Minimum of an accredited BSc Engineering Degree (Applied Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or similar).
  2. Minimum 15 years post graduate technical experience in Upstream Oilfield chemistry.
  3. Vast experience in development and application of lab protocols and procedures for chemical BIC (Best in Class) process and data analysis.
  4. Completed minimum 5 best in class process related with inhibition treatments (organic and mineral scales), be involved in at least 3 formation damage projects covering technical studies and implementation.
  5. Expert in Stimulation and Core flooding design and analysis.
  6. Mature carbonate reservoir oil fields.
  7. International work locations.
  8. Fluency in verbal and written English.
  9. Knowledge in Petroleum Engineering standard software tools: Prosper, GAP, and OFM.
  10. Strong teamwork multicultural skills.
  11. Communicate effectively with peers, less experienced staff, field staff, and management.

Preferable experience / expertise

  1. Experience using Production Chemistry software tools: ScaleChem, PVTsim, StimPro, StimPlan, Stim2001, Reveal.
  2. Employment with major IOC or ISC.
  3. Work experience in GCC.
  4. ls drilled on assigned rigs and use the indicators to improve performance on a continuous basis
  5. Technical knowledge in contracting strategies to achieve drilling objectives.
