Job Description:

Position reports to Head of Operations Engineering (Drilling or Workover)

  1. Coordinate the material requirements for the drilling and workover operations based on the well programs by issuing the relevant material reservation, purchase order, call-off orders and service orders. Ensure that materials are dispatched to the rigs on a timely manner to ensure efficient drilling operations.
  2. Liaise with the CLIENT call-off contractors via the Materials Controller to ensure availability of sufficient stock for the planned drilling and workover operations and be proactive for any change in the plan. Ensure CLIENT standard procedures are implemented and that HSE requirements are rigorously followed by Contractors and internally within CLIENT.
  3. Prepare the long-term material requirement for all standard well designs based on the Five-Year Business Plan to ensure that material and equipment is ordered and available to meet the programme requirements.
  4. Assist in preparing the tender documents for all call-off agreements i.e. technical specifications, bill of quantity, and spare parts, etc., and estimate the quantities to be called off during the contract period. Thereafter, assist with the technical evaluation of bids in cooperation with the Completion and Operations Engineers.
  5. Coordinate and oversee the day-to-day equipment movement by ensuring complete and correct documentation for dispatch and delivery. This requires coordination with the Drilling Supervisor, Workshop Supervisor and Materials Controller. Ensure adequate backup equipment is sent to the rig (or available in workshop) and that the correct process is followed for the return of unused back- up equipment with all necessary documentation.
  6. Advise the Materials Controller when materials or services have been received and accepted from Suppliers, to ensure the purchasing and receiving process is properly controlled and verified.
  7. Prepare write-off documents for drilling equipment which is to be written-off after ensuring that CLIENT has no further use of the equipment and thereafter ensure that the CLIENT write off procedure is properly initiated and followed.
  8. Verify that the material inventory in the CLIENT store, the supplier stocks and stock at the drilling workshop is maintained correctly by performing regular audits and checks to confirm adequate storage, stock levels and availability of QA/QC documents. Report any anomalies to Direst Supervisor and Materials Controller to quickly resolve any identified problems.
  9. Participate in the investigation of equipment failures (or HSE incidents within area of responsibility) to identify root causes and make recommendations to avoid reoccurrence.
  10. Provide recommendations for modification of the available equipment to suite specific well design without jeopardizing the integrity or the safety of the wells.

Required qualifications, experience and expertise:

  1. BSc Degree in an Engineering or Science discipline.
  2. Attendance of courses related to drilling equipment/materials and application.
  3. Minimum fifteen (15) years of experience in Oil & Gas industry include minimum of 8 years of exposure to drilling operations with experience gained in an operating Company or a major equipment or material vendor or service company.
  4. Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and in writing)
  5. Strong drive and motivation to achieve problem free operations.
  6. Rigorous attention to detail in the preparing of call-off orders; material specifications and inventory records and audits.
