Qualifications

  • Preferred degree in Engineering or Internationally recognized certification in loss Prevention.

Knowledge and/or Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in discipline with preferred at least five years demonstrated senior engineering experience in major capital projects (preferably to Carbon Capture and Storage related Projects)
  • Experience with EPC contractors, sub-contractors and vendors involved in the oil and gas industry
  • Demonstrated ability and sensitivity to work with people in a multi-cultural environment.

Key Accountabilities

(Duties include but not limited to)

  • Participates as a key member in the Loss Prevention and HSE activities to ensure that the Contractors comply with the Contract requirements including codes and standards. Provide guidance to the Contractors to promote compliance.
  • Manage the Contractor in the safe delivery of the scope of work; verify and ensure compliance with Company SHE and Loss Prevention requirements, standards, specifications, instructions and regulatory and environmental requirement.
  • Engage across disciplines including Process, Structural, Electrical, E&I, Piping, Mechanical, Pipeline, Risk; understand and communicate the requirements of FEED/EPC design; efficiently translate Company requirements and data into an efficient delivery from the Contractor.
  • Monitor the progress and delivery of the Loss Prevention and HSE work scope; verify that risk assessment plans are suitable and include required risk assessments and risk workshops as per Project phase and Company Gates requirement
  • Assists in the plans and schedules the Loss Prevention and HSE deliverables to enable efficient project execution, ensuring technical alignment and compliance with Qatar operational policies, standards of business conduct and project management system.
  • Report progress of close-out on weekly basis for presentation to management and ensure effective communication and coordination
  • Supervise and solve technical problems as they are developing in the various disciplines, and to initiate appropriate corrective actions. Seek guidance on areas beyond technical knowledge and manage implementation of solutions.
  • Chair meetings if required to collect and disseminate information pertaining to Loss Prevention engineering actions; advise Management in a timely manner where issues are unable to be resolved and may impact the project delivery.
  • Provide guidance and input during Project phases for the Packages, Contractor strategies/procedures to achieve project Integration objectives as required; participate in Constructability Reviews, Pre-Startup Reviews etc as required. Lead / drive contractors to timely conduct and deliver safety studies such as QRA, HAZIDs, HAZOPs, PHA, Safety Case, SHE studies etc. per execution plan.
  • Ensure approved Loss Prevention recommendations and programs are utilized by PMT to improve safety in design and in construction, reduce inefficiencies, and maintain high safety standards.
