INSTRUMENT CAD DESIGNER

1. JOB SCOPE:

Develop plans for instruments drawings, and sketches for building and manufacturing process by using computer-aided design and drafting (CAD or CADD and AVEVA Instrumentation) software programs.

2. JOB DESCRIPTION:

Description

  • Prepare detailed design drawings and documentation for Instrumentation and process diagram related engineering modifications and projects within CLIENT operations in order to support the timely delivery of project engineering deliverables while maintaining CLIENT specifications, technical documents and following drawings:
  •  Instrument loop diagram
  •  JB wiring diagram
  •  Hook up diagram
  • Installation details
  • Cable routing layout
  • Instrument & JB location layout
  • Panel wiring diagram
  • Cable Block Diagram
  • Cross wiring Diagrams
  • Preparation of control room layout and technical room layout
  • System Block Diagram / System Architecture (as per job engineer input/mark up)
  •  Level Sketch
  •  Function Logic Diagram (as per job engineer input/ mark up)
  • Logic Diagram (as per job engineer input/ mark up)
  • Work from rough sketches and specifications created by engineers.
  • Prepare multiple versions of designs for review by engineers.
  • Modify existing CLIENT plant instruments drawing, Plots, and layout.
  • Keep proper record of all transmittals receiving and delivering.
  • Completes any other tasks as needed or as directed by management.
  • Support in Departmental standardization activities.


3. Health, Safety, Environment and Quality

  • Ensure compliance to all relevant quality, health, safety, and environmental management procedures.
  • To work closely with HSE and Quality on related tasks such as process safety, maintaining and updating system documentation.
  • Participate in modifications/projects reviews such as risk assessments, HAZOP, etc. to assure compliance to all defined standards and contribute to corrective actions.

4. Reports

Provide inputs in the preparation of timely and accurate reports on modifications/projects.

5. INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS:

Internal:

  • Project team, requesters/project owners, inventory/procurement team and relevant departments.

External:

  • Contractors, Vendors, Consultants, and service providers.

6. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Engineering or Equivalent with certification in CAD software application.

Minimum Experience:

  • 5 years experience in similar field.
  • Exposure to various industry CAD practices and work cultures, keen interests in learning new CAD software and engineering design.

Initiative and good interpersonal skills.

  • Work independently on challenging projects.
  • Ability to read and understand PIDs and/ schematic/ wiring diagrams and familiar with drawing standards.


Language & communication skills:

  • Ability to communicate fluently in English language.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Coordinate and communicate with clients, consultants, contractors, and project team members.

Computer Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of latest version of Auto CAD/ AVEVA Instrumentation software and application.

Able to draw both 2D and 3D views

  • Familiar with MS office.
