  1. PURPOSE OF THE JOB
  • To drive fire trucks, operate, and maintain, on a shift basis, all firefighting equipment such as all mobile vehicles and other fire pumps, hoses , nozzles, to compact fire
  • Rescue lives and prevent loss or damage to property and follow the instructions of the Fire Fighting Foreman

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Ensure at the start of the shift, that all fire-fighting equipment in the fire station is in good operating condition, includes daily tests of firefighting vehicles in the fire training ground. And completes fire-fighting equipment checklists.
  • Drives all types of fire trucks and operates the fire pumps, foam systems, dry powder systems and TTL vehicles and :
    • Sets the vehicle in the right place
    • Calculate pump discharge, water throughput, foam mixing rations and other hydraulic calculations
    • Produces the correct firefighting mixture of foam in to the water stream
    • Operates the hydraulic platform in case of emergency
    • Tests, inspect fault find reports on the operability and performance of all vehicles and equipment
    • Measures throughput, outputs and overall pump performance, reporting any discrepancies to Fire Fighting Foreman for maintenance schedule
    • Conducts simple maintenance as required
  • Reports to fire or accident alarms from the plants control rooms, determine and approach to fires location. Makes the necessary hose connections to fixed hydrants, and starts fire-fighting using appropriate fighting tools according to the source of fire
  • Test firefighting equipment such as hoses, fire sprinkler system, deluge system, fire monitors, fire sensors, and maintains hydrants system, and respiratory protection gear. Repairs and cleans all fire-fighting equipment and flushes the piping and fire hoses to clear used foam or powder.
  • Attends fire drills as scheduled in various locations. Responds to alarm calls and carries out drills under the control of the FF. Foreman in simulated situations.

Performs other special drills arranged from time to time as training exercises

  • Acts as a safe agent when requested to provide assistance during shut-downs, stands near the work locations during maintenance work, connecting vehicle hoses if required, and standing by for emergencies
  • Conducts regular checks and inspects to all CLEINT areas/units to check Firefighting equipment and tools to ensure of proper operations
  • Follows-up the supervisory system (CLEINT and QVC alarm). Performs standby duties the Fire Fighting Center during Ethylene, VCM, EDC and Sulfur loading at the jetty and during discharging catalyst products in LDPE Plant.
  • Contributes to the implementations of CLEINTs total management system up to the appropriate job level
  • Fulfills duties such as filling in log books indicating time out, driver, destination, time of return for the fire fighting vehicles, attending safety training sessions conducted by the Safety and Fire Fighting instructor, Wears breathing apparatus as required.


QUALIFICATINS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Completion of Secondary (12 years) education
  • 3 years experience in firefighting in an oil, gas or petrochemical processing plant requiring knowledge of the plant and processes
  • Preferable Possession of a heavy duty driving license
  • Knowledge of English language; minimum level (CLIENT standard level 4 or ELS level 104 or equivalent)
  • Must be physically fit and meet the required health fitness criteria for firefighting duty, per CLIENT Health Standards

Frequent routine contacts with Operation and maintenance personnel at own or slightly higher level when on standby duty, Otherwise contact is limited to immediate associates to carry out routine work activities and fire training
