Medi Response has vacancies for Intermediate Life Support (ILS)-qualified (either AEA or ECA) Fire & Rescue technicians and Basic Life Support Practitioners (BLS/BAA) to be based at a local industrial site in the mining industry. We are looking for dynamic practitioners, ideally residing within Limpopo province, with operational and/or site-based EMS experience. We need willing and able EMS professionals who possess the necessary fire & rescue qualifications and who demonstrate our core values of passion, expertise and quality.

JOB OVERVIEW

As a site-based Fire & Rescue EMS (ILS) provider, you will be responsible for responding to both general and medical emergency incidents on the client's industrial premises. The site is located in a rural part of Limpopo province, and you will therefore need to be fully proficient in providing emergency medical care within an ILS scope of practice. You may also be required to support the on-site clinic. When on duty, you will be expected to respond to fire, rescue and other related incidents on the premises while further providing emergency medical treatment and ongoing care to patients on the site. 

An important part of your responsibilities will include diligent keeping of medical records (including records pertaining to patient assessment, treatment provided and drug/medication administration).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responding to general, rescue and medical emergency calls
  • Assessing patients, providing emergency treatment and monitoring and making preliminary diagnoses
  • Responding to general emergencies and assisting with site-based fire and rescue-related incidents
  • Communicating effectively with Medi Response's clients, patients and other important stakeholders
  • Managing patients and patient records for the designated site clinic.
  • Attending weekly health and safety meetings with the client's HSE team.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ambulance Emergency Assistant (AEA)/ Emergency Care Assistant  (ECA) certification/qualification
  • ITLS
  • Confined space rescue
  • LMVR
  • Basic surface water rescue
  • High angle rescue 
  • Industrial firefighting/ firefighter I and II
  • Hazardous materials 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Active registration with HPCSA as an Ambulance Emergency Assistant (AEA) or Emergency Care Assistant (ECA)
  • CPD compliant and in good standing with HPCSA
  • Drivers license with valid professional driving permit (PrDP - passenger)
  • Able to work shifts
  • Able to actively participate in fire and rescue incidents
