ASCLEPES Research Centers is recruiting Principal Investigators in the areas of community-based participatory research, chronic psychiatric conditions, and health disparities. The Principal Investigator shall support our Long Beach area.

This individual will be responsible for overseeing research to advance the knowledge of human behavior as it contributes to health and/or health risk. Research areas may include testing behavioral interventions with the potential to prevent or manage illness, promote health, and/or improve methods of care delivery, increase knowledge, and translate research to practice. This position reports to the President/Chief Executive Officer. This position is part-time and funded by 100% external (i.e., pharmaceutical) funds. ASCLEPES Research Centers offers a collegial atmosphere, minimal administrative responsibilities, and autonomy for its investigators. Collaborations between scientists are encouraged.

Job Duties

  • Lead, and collaborate with others, both within and outside ASCLEPES Research Centers, to obtain research proposals that align with the mission and strategic direction of ASCLEPES Research.
  • Lead, and collaborate with others, both within and outside ASCLEPES Research, in the translation of behavioral science research into practice
  • Participate in multi- and transdisciplinary collaborations and in national and international professional associations and conferences.
  • Provide consultation, review or co-investigator collaboration on ASCLEPES Research Centers colleagues' projects and studies, as well as mentorship to junior level investigators.
  • Provide oversight of research projects.
  • Stay current in area of research interest through reviews of the relevant literature; educate self about the latest methods and evidence related to behavioral research.
  • Share relevant, up-to-date knowledge with other staff, including providing in-service seminars, training and mentoring on behavioral research methods, issues, and the latest scientific evidence.
  • Maintain knowledge of standard operating procedures for research and perform in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements related to human research participants (GCP) and HIPAA requirements.

Qualifications:

  • M.D., D.O., or equivalent level degree
  • Board-Certified in Internal Medicine.
  • Active CA License.
  • Ability to go onsite at our Long Beach facility.
  • Established record of research accomplishment, including a history of obtaining pharmaceutical sponsored protocols.
  • Investigators with active study awards, or equivalent, are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Knowledge and experience with qualitative research, or mixed methods, and a history of collaboration on multi-disciplinary or transdisciplinary research teams.
