Central Maine Medical Center, a member of Prime Healthcare, is seeking a Nocturnist Hospitalist Physician to join its inpatient team in Lewiston, Maine. This is an excellent opportunity to practice overnight hospital medicine in a collaborative, physician-led environment with strong clinical support and manageable patient volumes.

The incoming physician will provide comprehensive overnight inpatient care, working alongside APPs and specialists to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.

Practice Overview

Central Maine Medical Center is a full-service, community-based hospital serving central Maine and part of an integrated healthcare system covering a population of approximately 400,000 patients.

The hospitalist program operates within a collaborative, multidisciplinary care model, supported by specialists, nursing, and care coordination teams to ensure efficient and high-quality inpatient care.

What You'll Do

• Provide overnight inpatient care for hospitalized patients
• Admit patients from the emergency department
• Cross-cover and manage existing inpatient census
• Respond to overnight clinical changes and rapid responses
• Collaborate with nursing staff, specialists, and care teams
• Ensure accurate documentation and effective handoffs

Schedule

Full-Time

• Night shift schedule (nocturnist role)
• Flexible scheduling structure based on program needs

What We're Looking For

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school
• Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
• Eligible for or active Maine medical license
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to manage acute inpatient cases
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
